Institutional Research: Program Review & Assessment
Faculty and staff review and assess academic programs at WNC in order to determine whether intended outcomes are being achieved and to plan program improvements. In accordance with WNC Policy 14-1-1 Assessment and Evaluation, programs should be assessed on a regular basis, and faculty are to use assessment results to improve educational programs.
All active, published degree- and certificate-granting programs are expected to plan, complete and report on assessment activities related to at least one student learning outcome every year so that all SLOs are assessed during each five-year program review cycle. Faculty may also choose to plan and report on assessment of program outcomes, which could be related to recruitment, retention, or faculty development, for example.
Assessment reports and plans are to be submitted electronically to Institutional Research by May 15 every year. (ir@wnc.edu)
