SIS Data Request System

The Data Request System (DRS) allows WNC faculty and staff to make requests for data and reports from the Student Information System (SIS).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Data Request System (DRS)?
The Institutional Research DRS (Data Request System) allows you to request information for college related purposes from the Student Information System (SIS). The Student Information System is a mainframe database that collects and stores a wealth of college information on students, classes, and instructors. Requests can be made for data to be provided in various formats including: Access, Excel, MsWord, and labels.

Can anyone request student information?
Because Student Information System requests are time intensive, it is important that your request be related to institutional effectiveness efforts like assessment and program review.

How can I make a DRS request?
When making a DRS request it is important that you provide a detailed description of the information you would like. The Institutional Research Office will contact you if follow-up about your request is necessary. You should allow a minimum of 10 business days for your request to be completed. You will receive email notification throughout the request process and you can view the status of your request at anytime by logging into DRS and choosing the link "View SIS Data Requests."

What kind of information can I get?
The table below shows examples of the kinds of information you can get from the Student Information System through DRS. There are many other categories to choose from, however, the list below represents the most commonly requested items.
