Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
The WNC counseling department administers and interprets the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to current and prospective students and faculty. The cost is $10, and includes an interpretation by a Counselor and an informational booklet. You take the MBTI on your own, at your own time. The best way to answer the questions is follow your first impulse and mark the answers that first come to your mind. There are no "right or wrong" answers. Be honest with yourself. If you don't understand a question, you may leave it blank.
If you are unsure of a career direction, it is recommended you complete the Strong Interest Inventory in addition to the MBTI. The Strong Interest Inventory helps individuals explore career interests. There is an additional fee of $10 to take this inventory.
Carson Campus: Pay the testing fee(s) at the Business office, located in the student services area on the south end of the Bristlecone building. Bring your receipt to Counseling Services, located next door, in Bristlecone 103. You will be given the MBTI (and the Strong Interest Inventory, if applicable) to take on your own - return to Counseling Services when finished. It can take several weeks for the tests to be scored. You will then set up an appointment to have a Counselor review the results with you.
Douglas Campus: Pay the testing fee(s) and obtain the MBTI (and the Strong Interest Inventory, if applicable) from the main desk at the Douglas campus - return to the main desk when completed. You may either travel to the Carson campus to visit with a Counselor for your results, or you can make an appointment to visit with a Counselor at the Douglas campus.
Fallon Campus: Pay the testing fee(s) and obtain the MBTI (and the Strong Interest Inventory, if applicable) from the counseling/students services desk in the Stillwater building. Return when finished. You will then set up an appointment to have a Counselor review the results with you.
