About myWNC

1: What is myWNC?

The myWNC student portal is a new, improved online registration and student services system. This "one-stop" gateway enables students to access many college applications and tools.

All institutions within the Nevada System of Higher Education are transitioning to this system in order to realize efficiencies in maintaining student data and course registration data.

Through myWNC, students will be able to:
-Access their account 24/7
-Browse and register for classes
-Check for financial aid status
-Obtain grades
-Receive communications from the college
-Use a shopping cart-style registration tool
-Use advanced planning tools
...and more.

2: What do I need to do to prepare for the launch of myWNC?

Current students need to have an active e-mail address on file with Admissions and Records to ensure that they receive important information about myWNC.

3: When do I begin using myWNC?

New students planning to attend WNC after Fall 2011 may NOW apply for admission using myWNC. Online Application for Admission

Current or returning students will use myWNC when they register.

4: Is an e-mail address required for all students?

Yes, all students must have a personal e-mail to register for classes.

5: I don't have an e-mail address. What should I do?

Students may set up a free e-mail account through various providers such as Google.

6: I haven't attended WNC for a while. Do I need to reapply?

Students who have not taken a credit class in two or more years will need to reapply.

7: How do I apply for admission?

To apply for admission go to and fill out the online application.

Browsing and Registering for Classes

8: How do I access the class schedule?

The schedule can be viewed through the myWNC portal guest page under the "Search for a Class" link. Once a student is able to log in to their account, the schedule can be accessed through the student center by clicking the green "Search for Classes" button on the right side of the Student Center page.

9: When can I register for classes?

Check dates and deadlines to determine when each semester's registration begins.
Students can find their enrollment appointment by accessing their student center and viewing enrollment information. An enrollment appointment indicates the first time a student can register; registration can be accessed anytime after the appointment.

10: How do I register for classes?

To Register, students log-in to myWNC, access their student center and complete the following steps:
� Click on "Enroll"
� Select a term
� Select classes to add to the shopping cart
� Click on the green button that says "Proceed to Step 2 of 3"
� View the classes to confirm that you wish to enroll in all of the classes in your shopping cart
� Click on "Finish Enrolling"
� View the results to verify if your enrollment was successful

11: I missed my enrollment appointment. Can I still register?

Yes, students may register anytime after their enrollment appointment on a 24/7 basis.

12: I tried to register but I see in my Student Center that I do not have an e-mail account. What should I do?

Add or update an e-mail account, address and phone number in the Student Center under "Personal Information."

13: How do I register for a non-credit community education class?

Students who plan to enroll in non-credit Community Education classes should go to: Community Education (CMSV)

14: The class I want to register for is full. Is there any way I can still register?

The best option is to select another class. It may be possible for a student to obtain approval from the instructor and the appropriate Division Chair, and be granted permission to enroll in a full class. All approvals must go through the office of the appropriate Division Chair.

Paying for Classes

15: How do I pay for classes?

Students pay by logging into myWNC and paying through the student center or by visiting the business office at the Carson City, Douglas or Fallon campuses. Students are responsible to pay by the published deadlines.

Student ID's and Passwords

16: How do I get an ID number and password to log in to myWNC?

Students will receive two separate email communications that will include their new ID number to use as their log in and temporary password.

Students will need to change their password when they first log in. The new password must be at least eight characters with at least one numeric and one alpha character.

17: I forgot my new student ID number. How do I log in to myWNC?

On the myWNC home page, click on the "Forgot my ID" link and your NSHE ID will be e-mailed to the student once security questions are answered.

18: I forgot my password. How can I reset it?

On the myWNC home page, a student can click on the "Forgot your password" link on the myWNC portal and a new password will be e-mailed to the student once security questions are answered.

19: I have my NSHE ID and password, and I have been able to previously log-in. Why I am suddenly having trouble logging in?

Students, especially those using Internet Explorer, may need to take the following actions in order to successfully log in to myWNC.

-Clear the browser cache
-Shut down all browser sessions
-Restart browser before logging into myWNC

20: Who can I call if I have questions about myWNC?

Contact WNC Carson Admissions and Records in person, or at 775-445-3277.

21: What are the hours of the myWNC portal?

The myWNC portal is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week except during periods of maintenance.
