Western Nevada Community College announced the appointment of Daniel J. Neverett as the school's new dean of student services. Prior to joining WNCC, Neverett was the vice president for student and administrative affairs at the State University of New York, College of Technology, in Alfred, New York. He worked at the college for 33 years, starting as a graduate intern and residence hall director. Neverett has a master's degree in counseling and student personnel services from the State University of New York at Albany.
The dean of student services is responsible for the offices of Admissions and Records, Counseling Services, Financial Assistance, Academic Skills, Adult Basic Education/English as a Second Language/GED, Outreach and Student Activities.
"I see myself as an advocate and trouble-shooter for students," Neverett says. "A lot of our students are first generation college students and they need someone to help get them through the system."
