Ash Canyon Poets Reading at WNCC
Members of Ash Canyon Poets, including award-winning poet Bill Cowee, will read from their work at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Western Nevada Community College's Carson City campus, 2201 W. College Parkway. The reading will be in Professor Marilee Swirczek's fiction writing class in the Bristlecone Building, room 343, and the public is invited.
Cowee is a founding member of the poetry critique group that has met every Friday since 1987 at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center. He received a Literary Arts Fellowship Award from the Nevada Arts Council in 1998, and in 2001 he was awarded a Governor's Arts Award. His first book of poetry, "Bones Set Against the Drift," was published by the Black Rock Press in 1997.
Ash Canyon member Krista Benjamin, who has published poetry, newspaper articles, and short fiction, will read from her poetry collection. Benjamin also belongs to Lone Mountain Writers, a fiction critique group based at WNCC that is sponsoring this literary event.
