Western Nevada Community College recently hired Hillary Arthur as its first women's soccer coach. Arthur has been the first assistant soccer coach at California State University, Chico, since 2001 and was a four-year starter and three-year captain at California State University, Humboldt.
Dean of Student Services Dan Neverett said, "After conducting a national search, we're pleased to have Hillary Arthur join us as the newest member of the WNCC Intercollegiate Athletic Department. Her experiences as the assistant women's soccer coach at Chico State, background as a personal trainer, and teaching experience will provide the program and our students with exceptional new resources. We look forward to our women's soccer team being very competitive in Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association and a regional athletic conference."
Arthur says she plans to begin recruiting Nevada athletes in WNCC's service area. "The local talent in Carson City and the surrounding communities will be my main focus," Arthur said. "I know there is a valuable untapped resource of highly skilled female soccer athletes in the area. I plan to bring in student athletes who have done well academically and who are motivated and passionate about playing soccer at a higher level. We will work to provide the students with the opportunity to progress to four-year universities also."
