Anyone interested in updating job skills and earning credits toward a college certificate or degree still has time to register for three web-based spring semester classes at Western Nevada Community College. Students must enroll in the self-paced three-credit classes by Wednesday, March 9. The self-paced classes end May 20.
Introduction to Programming (CIT 129, Section W01, call #12431) applies toward WNCC's new Computer Programming Certificate of Achievement. The class offers a language-independent, introductory course on computer program design and development and emphasizes identification and solution of business problems through various design tools. Rather than learning a specific language, students will learn the mechanics of computer programming using modern modeling techniques that can be applied to any programming language. It is a prerequisite for college programming classes, including Java, Visual Basic and C++.
Medical Billing (COT 114B, Sec. W01, call #17070) and Medical Terminology (COT 124B, Sec. W01, call #15942) apply toward the college's new Health Information Technology Certificate of Achievement. Medical Billing teaches business students and medical office staff fundamental office procedures for the medical front office. The course includes a comprehensive overview of medical front office skills including office communication, filing, scheduling, health insurance and basic accounting techniques.
Medical Terminology provides a self-paced course for learning the fundamental structure of many medical words, including pronunciation and spelling, and is designed for medical office specialists and beginning nursing students.
