Western Nevada Community College President Carol L. Lucey announced the winners of the 2005 Presidential Awards for Excellence at the annual Nevada Community Colleges Conference in Carson City.
Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence: Stephanie Neben, Career Technology Coordinator/Instructor. Neben has been teaching at the college since 1996 and is responsible for the Computer and Office Technology program. She recently created the college's new Health Information Technology program, which includes an associate degree and Certificates of Achievement in Medical Coding, Medical Transcription, and Medical Unit Clerk.
Presidential Award for Administrative Excellence: Teresa Larson, Budget Officer. Larson started working in the Controller's Office at WNCC 21 years ago and, while working, earned an associate degree at WNCC, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She has since earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Presidential Award for Classified Staff Excellence: Erich Holcombe, Library Assistant III. Holcombe started working at WNCC as a work study student in 1995. He earned two associate degrees at WNCC and is now pursuing a bachelor's degree at the University of Nevada, Reno.
