Learn About the Night Sky at WNCC's Jack C. Davis Observatory
Return to the Jack C. Davis Observatory home page
Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered, "What is that bright object?" Do you have a telescope that you have no idea how to use? Have you been thinking about buying a telescope but don't know what to buy or even what questions to ask?
The Western Nevada Astronomical Society is conducting seminars and providing one-on-one training for novices at the Jack C. Davis Observatory at Western Nevada Community College, 2699 Van Patten Ave. in Carson City. The Davis Observatory is open to the public every Saturday night, but on July 16, August 13, September 12, and October 8, beginning about one hour before dark, WNAS volunteers will specifically address novice issues. After dark, participants will look through a number of different telescopes and discuss the night sky. Bring a telescope or just your curiosity and prepare to be introduced to the fascinating hobby of astronomy.
For more information, contact Jack L. Davis at 888-9197 or visit the WNAS web site.
