Western Nevada Community College is honoring the people who worked so tirelessly to save WNCC and the community during last summer's Waterfall Fire. The "Waterfall Fountain" ceremony will be at the main entrance to the Joe Dini Jr. Library at 2201 West College Parkway. A decorative stone fountain was donated to the College shortly after the blaze and will be dedicated on Friday, July 15, at 3 p.m. The fountain was designed and donated by Dustin Rand of Stone Effects in Reno.
The plaque next to the fountain is inscribed:
"Dedicated to the first responders, firefighters, and volunteers who defended our community during the Waterfall Fire July 14-20, 2004. Their courage and determination saved our college and homes, and protected many lives."
