Western Nevada Community College has earned its reaccreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities following a comprehensive assessment this spring. The next regularly scheduled, full-scale evaluation is scheduled in five years, during the 2009-2010 academic year.
WNCC President Carol Lucey said, "We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this successful result, not just during the review year but over the last five years since our 2000 full-scale evaluation. The college has grown in every respect over these years, and our successes have been due to the efforts of a very large number of devoted and hard working faculty and staff, as well as to the support of our communities and students."
In its spring report the Commission commended the college on its "exemplary budget process," its "commitment to assessment as it supports teaching and learning," and the quality of the college's student services staff and leadership. It also requested that the college prepare a progress report in spring 2007 to address general recommendations on academic assessment, including ensuring that the process occurs throughout instructional programs in a clearly-defined manner and on a regular basis.
