WNCC Journalism Class
Learn Success at Communicating
The campus newspaper of Western Nevada Community College, The Wildcat Press, received an award last year from the Society of Professional Journalists, and this fall students will have a chance to repeat that success. The paper is produced by students in two of the college’s journalism classes, both of which are offered this fall semester. The three-credit classes, Media Writing (JOUR 201, call# 39038, Sec. CV1) and News Gathering and Writing (JOUR 221, call# 37479, Sec. CV1) meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-5:15 p.m. on the Carson City campus and via interactive video at the Fallon campus.
"Think of it," says instructor Bob Cutts. "Teachers communicate for a living. Every level of government worker communicates for a living. Marketing, sales, public relations: if you want to succeed in business, you have to succeed first in getting your message to your boss, your colleagues, your customers.
"This class is the direct path to learning how to communicate effectively. And to seeing your name in print – it will look twice as good on your job resume."
The WNCC fall semester begins Friday, Aug. 26; register online at www.wncc.edu.
