"The Enigma of Memory, Dream, and Imagination," a collection of paintings by artist Victor Sandblom, is on display through March 3 in the Virgil Getto Hall Art Gallery at Western Nevada Community College Fallon.
"My childhood memories are filled with walks through forests and trips to museums," Sandblom said. "Today, in my work, I am still moved by the profound enigma of memory, myth and imagination."
At an early age, Sandblom combined his experiences with stories from his grandparents and Northwest Coast mythologies told to him by his mother. "These tales kindled a desire to explore unknown terrain, secluded places and the mysterious," he continued.
This desire has led Sandblom all over the world, including six years of independent study at museums in Paris, Madrid, New York and Washington, D.C., as well as many exhibitions Washington state. He even conducted a two-week painting course in Paris. He has studied at the University of Oregon, New York Studio School and Art Student's League of New York, and currently lives in Seattle, Wash.
An artist's reception in the Virgil Getto Hall Gallery, 160 Campus Way, will be Thursday, March 2, 5-7 p.m., with an artist's gallery talk at 6 p.m.
