Due to a water main break, the Western Nevada Community College Douglas campus is closed and all classes have been canceled until Monday, April 24.
"One of our maintenance guys was turning on an irrigation line on an outside valve and something broke," Mark Davis, WNCC assistant director of facilities said. "This is a protective measure so we don't encounter any further issues."
According to Davis, a local contractor has been called in to handle the situation. "We do not have the proper tools to repair the problem," Davis said. "The contractor will work through the weekend to try to get this fixed so we can be open on Monday."
Students are encouraged to check on Monday before going to the Douglas campus to confirm the campus is open. All other WNCC locations remain open.
