Inspiration and Aspirations
Authors, poets, instructors, and editors from around the United States will converge at Western Nevada Community College for a writers conference Friday-Sunday, July 14-16. Sponsored by the Juniper Creek Writers and WNCC's Lone Mountain Writers group, the conference will offer a variety of activities, presentations, and writing seminars.
Participants will enjoy craft workshops, panel discussions, a wine tasting and hors d' oeuvres party, poetry readings, a book sale and author signing, a barbecue dinner and musical performance, and an observatory stargazing party.
Featured speakers include Tamim Ansary, an Afghan-American memoirist; Constance Hale, a former editor of the Oakland Tribune and San Francisco Examiner; Ellen Hopkins, a poet, freelance writer, and author with 20 nonfiction titles; Kevin Lewis, Simon & Schuster children's editor; Same Pierstorff, founding editor of the Quercus Review Press; June Saraceno, editor of the Sierra Nevada College Review; WNCC English Professor Marilee Swirczek; and more.
