Learn How to Learn in WNCC College Success Course
When consumers buy a car, it comes with a manual. A new electronic item includes an instruction book. But college doesn’t really work that way -- until now. Western Nevada Community College is offering an introductory class for high school and college students who want to learn how to learn, find out more about the college experience, and develop a plan for success in school.
CAPS 122: How to Succeed in College is available on interactive video and in a classroom setting on a variety of different days and times. Students will learn about planning and time management, procrastination busting techniques, stress management, test-taking techniques, motivation strategies, and effective study skills, including active listening, reading, note-taking, and test preparation. Participants will learn how to study smarter, not harder.
Students will also analyze and discover how they learn, and begin to identify their preferred learning styles. They can even explore and identify personal, academic and career goals.
The courses are offered as either one or three credits that are transferable within the Nevada System of Higher Education. Check www.wncc.edu for a complete fall schedule. Classes begin Monday, Aug. 28.
