Vote for Your Favorite Student Art at Western
The annual Student Art Exhibition, a diverse collection of artwork by Western Nevada Community College students, is on display at the Carson City campus Main and College Galleries through Friday, May 11. Everyone in the community is invited to view the exhibit and cast a vote for their favorite artwork at the WNCC Bristlecone Building information desk.
“People’s Choice,” “Best of Show,” and award winners in various categories will be announced at a reception for the artists in the galleries on Thursday, April 26, 4-7 p.m.
Categories include ceramics, contemporary oil & acrylic painting, darkroom photography, digital imaging, digital photography, drawing: black and white media, drawing: color media, graphic communications, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, traditional oil & acrylic painting, visual foundations, and watercolor.
There is also a Ceramics Silent Auction underway which will continue until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8. Auction items, identifiable by a large red sticker, are located on tables in the center of the College Gallery and atrium. Anyone is welcome to bid on them. All proceeds will benefit the WNCC Art Program.
