Event Date
"Art & Archaeology of Ancient Peru," an exhibition of photos by Dr. Hal Starratt, and "Recent Work," a collection of oil paintings by Naomi Nickerson, are currently on display at Western Nevada Community College. A reception for the artists of these exhibits is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 14, in the WNCC Main Gallery from 4-6 p.m.
"Art & Archaeology of Ancient Peru" showcases Peru's fascinating past, from the mud-brick huacas of the coastal Moche to the grand stone cities of the highland Inca. Dr. Starratt, a WNCC anthropology instructor, participated in a five-week study tour of Peru and Bolivia, filled two notebooks with observations, and shot more than 400 digital photos in the Sacred Valley, Lima, Machu Picchu, Cuzco, and Lake Titicaca. The exhibition will be on display in the Main Gallery through Friday, Sept. 29.
"Recent Work" will hang in the College Gallery through Friday, Oct. 6. This impressive collection of framed oil paintings features beautiful horses galloping across rolling landscapes and more.
