The Western Nevada Community College women's soccer team (6-7-2) fell 4-1 to Feather River College Wednesday in a physical contest in Quincy, Calif. The Wildcats failed to take advantage of their 18 shots on goal and saw their defense get away from them a bit, as Feather River made four of seven shots on goal.
"We had some defensive errors that really cost us," Head Coach Hillary Arthur said." We weren't winning the 50-50 balls, and we just weren't getting any breaks."
Western's only goal came at the 30-minute mark in the first half with Courtney Lenhart knocking in a penalty kick for the Wildcats. "She really got her clock cleaned in the box," Arthur added. "I'm just glad we came out of the game with only one injury."
Goaltender Allie Otto left the game in the second half with a concussion, and sweeper Dominique Gloude was held out of her sixth straight game with an injured knee.
Feather River went on to score three goals in the second half to win the second meeting between the two teams. WNCC won the first contest 5-1 on August 27.
Western will continue their five-game road trip Friday against Salt Lake Community College and Saturday against Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. The Wildcats will finish out the regular season against Colorado Mountain College on October 20 and Auraria Football College on October 21 in Spring Valley, Colo.
