See “Paintings and Drawings” at Western Nevada

“Paintings and Drawings,” a collection of artwork by Galen Brown, is being featured in Western Nevada Community College’s College Gallery through Thursday, April 19. Brown recently moved to Carson City from San Francisco, and the college welcomed him to town by displaying some of the paintings and charcoal drawings he just moved.

“With this exhibit, I am projecting a sense of identity to a sheet of paper to create a life within and to make a flat piece of paper become an object, as well as an image with a presence,” Brown said. “I passionately attack the paper to give it history and a layering of experience. The paper is an injured object showing the marks left by time, with the residue of hands' movement.”

A reception for the artist will be Thursday, April 19, 5-7 p.m.
