Summer Art Exhibit
"All Around the World...Up and Down," a collection of photographs by Cecilia Hackman that features some of the world's most famous places and sights, will show in the College Gallery at Western Nevada College Tuesday, May 29, through Friday, Aug. 10.
"This is only a small representation of the many photos taken during my travels," Hackman said. "My husband and I have been to China, Hong Kong, Russia, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, France, Croatia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela, Italy, Canada, Nova Scotia, Mexico, and the Caribbean. I tried to represent every country with at least one photograph."
Between her travels and her time as a photographer for the Las Vegas Sun, she has created more than 30,000 images. She was the newspaper's first female photographer and won several Nevada Press Association awards for her work.
Hackman, a Gardnerville resident, has a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Photojournalism from Kent State University in Ohio.
A reception for the artist will be Thursday, May 31, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
