Western Nevada College’s Helaine Jesse and D.J. Whittemore were honored with awards at the Nevada Appeal Community Awards Banquet Tuesday, June 26, at the Carson Nugget. WNC Head Baseball Coach Whittemore was named the Athlete/Sportsperson of the Year and Jesse, WNC Vice President of Development & External Affairs, tied with Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini for Public Servant of the Year by the newspaper’s 10-member reader panel.
