Taking care of children can be a fun and rewarding experience for teens and pre-teens. But what happens if a child has a medical emergency or gets hurt? Western Nevada College will offer two non-credit baby-sitting classes for youth age 11-15 to help them effectively deal with these kinds of situations.
Baby-Sitting Certification (CFK 1200, Sec. F01), meets Saturday, Nov. 3, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Donna Miller, an authorized American Red Cross provider, will cover rescue breathing, first aid, feeding, diapering, and more. Students will receive a 160-page color manual and a certification card, and should bring a brown bag lunch, as the class will meet through the lunch hour. Cost: $67.50.
Baby-Sitting CPR (CFK 1202, Sec. F01), meets Saturday, Oct. 27, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Reva Brown, a registered nurse with Banner Churchill Community Hospital Education/Training Department, will cover adult, child and infant CPR. Students will receive a completion card, book, and a WNC certificate of completion. A maximum of nine students will be accepted into the class.
Cost: $55.
