Many government agencies, manufacturing companies, and service organizations implement effective safety principles to save money and most importantly, lives. However, many times the company leadership and employees don't fully understand the dynamics or legal responsibilities of ensuring safe work practices. Recognizing this need in the community, Western Nevada College, in partnership with the National Association of Safety Professionals - Sierra Chapter, will offer Safety Manager/Trainer Certification Monday-Friday, Nov. 5-9, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in Hawthorne.
This intensive 40-hour course will provide a clear and concise explanation of responsibilities concerning employee safety and the relative OSHA standards. NASP Trainer Robert Wood will share the latest techniques, methods to save money on OSHA compliance, how to avoid civil and criminal liability, and how to involve employees in the plan.
Graduates will qualify for the Certified Safety Training Specialist and the Certified Safety Planning Specialist certifications. They also will receive all the materials needed to develop and implement a company-specific safety program.
Cost: $1,050 if official registration is received by Monday, Oct. 22. After that date, registration fee is $1,100. Information and reservations: Robert Schleef at 775-945-2405 or schleefr@wnc.edu, or Ginny Dugan at 775-423-5847 or dugan@wnc.edu.
