Fallon Students to Honor Veterans
To recognize the many sacrifices that military veterans have made to the country, Western Nevada College students will host a reception on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 5 p.m. on campus. “Veterans’ Hour” will feature guest speakers and complimentary refreshments in Virgil Getto Hall.
“This is our way to say thank you,” said Leah Burfield, Associated Students of Western Nevada senator and event organizer. “Everyone is welcome to this social event.”
Dennis Cox, who has served the U.S. government as a civilian trainer in Iraq for the past two years, will show slides and talk about his experiences. Cox trains Iraqi police and other personnel in skill development, including tactical strategies, the use of firearms, and supervision, and is able to assist in medical emergencies.
Don Kidd, the Veterans Administration representative to WNC Fallon, will also be on hand to answer any questions.
