Golf Tourney To Benefit Students

Golfers can tune up their swing and help local students pay for college by entering Western Nevada College's 2008 scholarship golf tournament on Saturday, April 26, at the Golf Course at Fallon.

Fallon Campus Dean Bus Scharmann said all proceeds from the "Golf for Greenwave Graduates" tournament will help fund scholarships for graduates of Churchill County High School.

"Last year we had nine foursomes and raised $1,000," Scharmann said. "This year we hope to have twice as many teams and raise twice the amount of money."

Cost per team is $240, or individuals may enter for $60. Golfers will receive tee prizes and have a chance to win gifts for longest drive and shot closest to the hole.

The major sponsor for the event is Greater Nevada Mortgage Services, and Churchill Economic Development Authority will provide lunch.
