WNC Carson Quilt Exhibit Warms College Gallery

A colorful and creative challenge quilt exhibit is warming up the winter cold at Western Nevada College. The Carson Valley Quilt Guild is showing its "Patchwork in the Park" exhibit at the College Gallery, Monday, March 3, through Friday, March 21.

Members held a challenge last summer in conjunction their biennial quilt show at Fuji Park in Carson City. Participants were given two pieces of fabric, one a multicolored and floral print, and one a variegated green print, to use in their challenge quilt, on the front and in a recognizable form. The quilt could be no larger than 30 inches square of 130 inches in perimeter, and had to reflect the quilter's impression of the challenge theme.

The results are sometimes whimsical and sweet, sometimes stunning and elegant, and always creative. An artist's reception is set for Monday, March 3, 4:30-6 p.m. in the gallery, located in the Bristlecone Building at WNC Carson City campus. Admission is free.
