Community Deaf Pride Day on Campus
WNC hosts event Saturday, April 12
Deaf and hard of hearing people, as well as the hearing community will enjoy Western Nevada College is presenting "Community Deaf Pride Day" on Saturday, April 12, at the Dini Student Center in Carson City.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is open to all, and refreshments will be provided.
There will be a host of free and fun activities including 4-H petting animals, hands-on exhibits by Lowe's Home Improvement stores, cookie decorating, face painting, jump houses, a game room, a raffle, relay games and temporary tattoos.
In addition to the entertainment, information will be available about the latest technology to aid deaf individuals, resources and signing lessons. Signing will be available throughout the event.
WNC's Deaf Studies associate degree prepares students for a bachelor's degree in Deaf Studies. The college offers a dozen courses in American Sign Language, fingerspelling, and sign language interpretation.
