Surgical Technology Pinning Friday
Thirteen future surgical technologists will celebrate their graduation from Western Nevada College with a traditional pinning ceremony Friday, May 16, at 5 p.m., at the Carson City campus. The event will be in Sarah Winnemucca Hall in the Aspen Building.
Students in the 2008 Surgical Technology class hail from throughout western Nevada and spent hundreds of hours learning on campus and in area hospitals and surgery center operating rooms. The students learned basic care of patients in the operating room, operating room techniques, and infection prevention and control, as well as core classes in anatomy and physiology, math, English and human relations.
Now, they will earn a Certificate of Achievement in Surgical Technology and will be qualified to sit for the National Certification Examination for Surgical Technology.
The 2008 class includes: Debora Biddlecome and Stacy Warner of Carson City; Edilberto Espitia of Cold Springs; Jolene Daphne, Rebecca Fejer and Caleb Joyner of Gardnerville; Elysia Fry, Steven Gerken, Lindsey Marlow, Svitlana Vasylyeva and Emma Wagner of Reno; Monroe Eskew of Silver Springs; and Luz Raygoza of Sparks.
