WNC Fallon to Show Photo Exhibit
 | | "Ranch Door - Reno, NV 2002" | Western Nevada College Fallon campus will feature photographs by Irwin Sorkin in the opening art exhibit of the new school year. "Irwin Sorkin: Platinum Prints" will show in the gallery at Virgil Getto Hall Monday, Sept. 8-Friday, Oct. 3. A public reception for the artist will be Thursday, Sept. 11, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Sorkin's "fine art photography" uses the skills he developed throughout his life as an artist, architect and photographer. It also embraces the formal instruction that Sorkin received in recent years in silver gelatin and platinum printing.
In an artist's statement, Sorkin said, "I photograph images that have a luminous quality and that provide a sense of the unknown, patterns such as dunes, the texture of sheet metal, and abandoned buildings."
"It is the light that I love," he said. "The brilliance and luminous transparent quality of light radiating from within and the details that bind all the parts into an organic wholeness.....the richness of tone of the platinum print provides me an additional visual and elegant statement to my photographs."
