Western Nevada College's intercollegiate baseball team is only three years old, but it can count seven former Wildcats pitchers now playing in the minor leagues, and two have moved up from rookie leagues to Advanced A professional ball.

Jose Barajas was signed by the Baltimore Orioles in June and has moved from the rookie league to Advanced A level in Frederick, MD. Barajas plays in the Carolina League and joins former teammate
Cole Rohrbough, who moved from low A to the Atlanta Braves Advanced A affiliate and has made four starts for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. In his most recent start, Rohrbough pitched his first complete game shutout as a pro.

Stephen Sauer is the team closer for the Great Falls Voyagers, the rookie league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Sauer leads his team with five saves.

Justin Garcia pitches for the Columbus Catfish of the South Atlantic League, and has the Tampa Bay Rays affiliate's lowest ERA at 2.63.

Kyle Farrell and TJ Wohlever pitch for the Gulf Coast League Braves in Florida. Mason Tobin plays for the Cedar Rapids Kernels and posted a 2-3 record before being placed on the injured list.

"The Wildcats are extremely proud of all their alumni, including those finishing their careers in college baseball," Coach DJ Whittemore said today. "To have seven alumni pitching in the minor leagues after just three seasons of play really says a lot about the talent of coaches Kevin Edwards and Dennis Banks in developing pitchers.

"The fact that seven of the eight drafted pitchers have signed pro contracts speaks volumes of how anxious professional baseball teams are to get Wildcats pitchers into their minor league systems."
