Softball Takes Tough Losses

If there is any silver lining to last weekend's four home losses by the Western Nevada College softball team, it's the upcoming opponents in their Scenic West Athletic Conference schedule. For the first time in a month, the Wildcats will not face a nationally ranked team.

With nearly half of the Scenic West Athletic Conference softball teams ranked nationally in the National Junior College Athletic Association Top 20, WNC has in the past three weeks played No. 20 Southern Nevada, No. 10 Southern Idaho, and this past weekend, No. 7 Salt Lake.

Western's only success this year has been against Colorado Northwestern Community College, who comes to town Friday and Saturday for two doubleheaders at Centennial Park.

Playing at home last weekend, the Lady Wildcats lost all four games against Salt Lake Community College, 13-3, 14-0, 9-0 and 10-0. Western is now 4-20 in its inaugural season. Salt Lake leads the conference with a record of 25-3.
