Western Nevada College's softball team took advantage of sunny weather and a home field advantage to dominate a doubleheader Friday afternoon over Colorado Northwestern Community College. The series concludes Saturday with a noon doubleheader.
The Wildcats found the bats and held their defense against the Spartans, dominating 10-0 and 8-0. Both contests ended after five innings due to the eight-run lead rule. Alissa Rampa socked a three-run homer early in the first game, and Ambar Huish added a homer later in the day.
"They were all fired up and ready to play," said Coach Scott Rasner. He commended starting pitcher Alyson Herman, who went the distance in both games. "She's been working all week on her fastball and her change-up, and she's really picked up speed." He said Herman has "been carrying all the load" on the mound this season.
