Fans, students, faculty, parents and even Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell were on hand to welcome the WNC Wildcats baseball team back to campus on Monday, June 1, after their third place finish in the NJCAA World Series. In addition to the handshakes and hugs, the college hosted a barbeque for the team and well-wishers.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, and cake were enjoyed and the Wildcats officially received their team and individual trophies for the 2009 season.
Mayor Crowell declared Monday, June 1, as Wildcats Baseball Day in honor of the team, which tallied the best record and highest finish to their season in program history.
Western Nevada had a stellar season, winning both the Scenic West Athletic Conference title, the NJCAA Region 18 Championship and the Western District Championship before going on to the World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
