Western Nevada College invites senior citizens to a free five-week Health and Wellness class, in partnership with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. The non-credit workshop meets Mondays and Wednesdays, July 20-August 19, 10 a.m.-noon, at WNC Fallon, 160 Campus Way, with video links to Hawthorne and Gardnerville.
Participants will learn about basic nutrition and diet assessment; healthy eating habits; portion distribution; food labels and food safety; cooking for one or two; geriatric pharmacy; living within financial means; living wills and power of attorney; financial scams and preventing theft; and community resources.
Guest speakers will share their expertise and each session will have a computer component where seniors learn to use the Internet as a source for additional information.
