WNC Fallon to offer weekend classes.

RV Driving School Prepares Drivers for Road

Before sliding behind the wheel of a motor home or towing a large trailer, recreationists will benefit from an RV driving course at Western Nevada College Fallon that will qualify them for the appropriate driver licenses.

WNC, in partnership with Advanced Truck School, LLC, will offer weekend courses beginning September 12 that prepare drivers to test for R & J endorsements. Each class will meet for 15 hours on a Saturday and Sunday. The endorsements will allow a driver to legally operate a recreational vehicle and trailer.

The "R" Endorsement is allows towing a combination of vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight of less than 10,000 lbs. and are less than 70 feet long, while the "J" Endorsement allows towing a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of more than 10,000 lbs.

Endorsements are intended for recreational use only on top of the passenger vehicle class "C" license. The R & J endorsement is needed by those pulling horse or house trailers or driving recreational vehicles, as well as a variety of other purposes.

Cost is $250 if the student supplies his own RV, or $300 if Advanced Truck School must furnish the rig. Students will prepare for the written DMV test and the Pre-Trip Inspection Test and receive skills course instruction and practice. Upon passing the written DMV test, students can obtain on-road instruction if needed, at no additional cost.

For more information or to register, contact Advanced Truck School at 775-741-5891 or WNC at 423-5186. Individual lessons can also be scheduled.
