December 26 open house and space raffle
Western's Jack C. Davis Observatory is the location for a free after-Christmas open house on Saturday, Dec. 26, from 6-9 p.m. The evening will feature a presentation about the night sky followed by viewing from a number of telescopes, weather permitting.
Free cocoa and cookies will be served and there will be two special raffle drawings. One is for a commemorative coin in a jacket signed by Buzz Aldrin, second man to walk on the moon, and another for a four-inch Celestron GoTo telescope.
Raffle tickets are $20 each or six for $100. Proceeds will help support the observatory, located at 2699 Van Patten Avenue, just west of the Carson City campus off Combs Canyon Road.
