Carson Valley Guild shows works March 15-31
View the memories of the Pony Express days in a challenge quilt exhibit by the Carson Valley Quilt Guild, at Western Nevada College Carson City. "Quilts Along the Pony Express" exhibits in the College Gallery, Monday, March 15-Wednesday, March 31.
A free, public reception for the artists will be Wednesday, March 17, 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The juried exhibit was created in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express.
In creating a challenge quilt, participants were given two pieces of fabric - one brown in color reflective of trees and another in a variegated yellow print. The quilters then strove to reflect their own impressions of the theme in their handicraft.
The quilt can be no larger than 30 inches square or 120 inches in perimeter, and the challenge fabric must be used in a recognizable form on the front of the quilt.
The gallery, located in the Bristlecone Building, is open weekdays, 9 a.m.- 8 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
