Fallon Grad Earns National Honor
Working Mom Named Coca-Cola Scholarship Finalist
Tammi Abshire
A Fallon woman who just graduated in Western Nevada College's class of 2010 has been recognized with a national honor.
Tammi Abshire has been named a 2010 Coca-Cola national finalist in a program administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the national honor society of community college students. The prestigious award includes a $1,000 reward.
Abshire graduated with an associate degree in criminal justice, and plans to continue her education at the University of Nevada, Reno. At WNC, she was a member of PTK, and served as the Fallon campus honor society's historian. In addition, she is a mother who works in social services at the Schurz reservation.
