Fall Auto Classes Can Tune Up Car Maintenance Skills

In tough times, more people may seek to avoid costly automotive maintenance or repairs, and learn to take care of the job themselves. Western Nevada College offers automotive classes this semester that will teach general automotive skills. Classes are 3-4 credits, and cost is $249.25-$324 for 15 weeks of instruction, August 30-December 17.

Introduction to General Mechanics, AUTO 101B, introduces principles, design, construction and maintenance of automobiles. Students learn how to perform general maintenance of auto systems. The class is ideal for a new mechanic or do-it-yourselfers, and is offered both in the morning or the evening.

Students can learn enhanced automotive design techniques through Automotive Collision or Automotive Refinishing classes (AUTB 120B or AUTB 200B), or advanced repair with Automotive Brakes (AUTO 145B), Engine Performance I (AUTO 225B), or Auto Electricity and Electronics (AUTO 115B).

WNC's automotive technology program is NATEF certified in engine performance, auto brakes and auto electricity, and offers a one-year certificate or two-year associate degree for those seeking employment in the field. View the full class schedule or register at www.wnc.edu.
