Enjoy a unique perspective October 4-20
Western Nevada College Fallon Art Gallery presents Jeep and Bobcat Paintings by Tom Robinson, with the help of Jo Robinson and WNC Art Professor Gil Martin, October 4-29. Tom and his collaborators have developed a rugged perspective of art in what may be its most rare form.
Using a 1972 Jeep and a Bobcat earthmover, the artist and his posse drove over cans of paint placed on canvas. The result is 11 works of impressionistic art in which tires and tread have replaced the artist's paintbrush.
Says Martin, "The biggest surprise from working on this project is that you can actually paint in this fashion. The artist has control of the medium and there are decisions to make that affect the outcome of the masterpiece."
Tom and Jo Robinson are long-time residents of Churchill County who have been active in the arts for decades. They run the Trading Post in Fallon, which features a cornucopia of recycled treasures.
The public is invited to meet the artists during a reception Thursday, Oct. 14, 4:30-6:30 pm. at the WNC Fallon Gallery located in Virgil Getto Hall. Refreshments will be served. WNC Fallon is located at 160 Campus Way.
