Series Continues Saturday, Noon and 2 p.m.
The Western Nevada College softball team took to Edmonds Field for their final home stand series of the season Friday afternoon. The Wildcats faced the College of Southern Idaho, who sits in second place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
In game one, CSI took an early two-run lead, which the Wildcats answered with a single by Niki DiSera and a homerun by Jordan Thomas. After one inning, the score was even at 2-2. Five runs in the second and one in the third padded CSI's lead. In the fifth inning, Thomas singled and scored on a double by Ashley Hall. CSI brought in four runs in the seventh, and WNC couldn't recover. Final score, 12-3, CSI.
Additional Wildcat hits came in the form of singles from Melanie Pfeiffer and Megan Hein. Ashley Hall started in the circle for the Wildcats. She was relieved by Cassie Vondrak, who took the loss for Western.
In game two, WNC was scoreless until the fourth inning when Ashley Gleason doubled, Hein singled, and Jamie Klopatek was walked to load the bases. Pfeiffer was hit by a pitch, which brought in Gleason. CSI topped the Wildcats, 9-1 in five innings. Additional hits came from Thomas and Hein, who each had singles. Pitcher Klopatek took the loss for Western.
