Enjoy Giveaways During Final Home Series
As the Western Nevada College Wildcats baseball team heads into the home stretch of the Scenic West Athletic Conference, they are looking to enhance their standings as they prepare for SWAC tournament play.
Emotions and school pride will run high when the nationally ranked Wildcats baseball team hosts a four-game series against cross-state rival College of Southern Nevada on Friday-Saturday, April 20-21. Students and the community are encouraged to “Stack the Stands” at John L. Harvey Field to support the second place Wildcats as they continue their pursuit of the Scenic West Athletic Conference title. Doubleheaders begin at noon.
For “Stack the Stands” day on Friday, Wildcats promotional items will be given away to all fans. And as always, WNC students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a WNC ID card.
“We’re encouraging students to get out there and support WNC against CSN more than anything else,” said Jason McGill, WNC’s assistant advisor for student government. “We’ve done it the last three years, and it’s been really successful. We’ll distribute gift bags with pens, water bottles and different swag in them.”
WNC enters the series just one game behind conference-leading Salt Lake. Wildcats Coach D.J. Whittemore is expecting a large crowd, which will be augmented by as many as 20 Major League Baseball scouts. Wildcats sophomore pitcher Dylan Baker, a projected high-round pick in the June MLB draft, is scheduled to start the opening game.
On Saturday, the Wildcats will honor their sophomores in between the doubleheader games.
