To recognize America Recycles Day, Western Nevada College’s Recycling Committee and the State Recycling Program will hold a free composting workshop on Nov. 15 at the Reynolds Center for Technology, room 110.
Nicole Goehring, Northern Nevada Recycling coordinator, will present the 5:30 to 6:45 pm. workshop, which will teach participants how to build vermicompost bins and maintain them. Vermicomposting uses mall worms to produce nutrient-rich compost.
To register for the workshop, contact Valerie Andersen at 775-445-3222 or at Valerie .firstname.lastname@example.org. The first 15 registrants will receive a free vermicomposting unit. The workshop can accommodate 30 people.
In addition, several booths will be set up in the Bristlecone Building lobby from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m. to provide giveaways and campus recycling information.
Anyone who would like to be involved in WNC recycling is welcome to attend the 10 a.m. committee meetings Nov. 9 and Dec. 7 in the Dini Library presentation room.
