Hello Dolly! Dances Back Into Town
The irresistible Hello, Dolly! plays at the Carson City Community Center weekends, November 3-18.
Telling the story of the fast-talking, lovable matchmaker, Dolly Levi, as she works her magic on three romances while arranging her own, the show swept the Tony Awards when it was first released and has stolen the hearts of audiences around the world ever since.
Jerry Herman's charming score animates the work, with songs like "It Only Takes a Moment," "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" and the title song, sung by a fleet of dancing waiters, "Hello, Dolly."
The show is presented by the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company, which broke area box office records with last fall's production of The Phantom of the Opera. The same creative team - producer/director Stephanie Arrigotti and choreographer Gina Kaskie Davis - is mounting this classic production.
Starring as Dolly is Dianne Hale, who plays opposite Kirk Gardner as Vandergelder. Matt Coogan plays the store clerk Cornelius, who escapes with Gene Sitts as Barnaby to find adventure in New York. There they find the beautiful Irene Molloy and her chatterbox assistant, Minnie Fay, played by Monica Ricketts and Melody Ricketts. Dolly sees to their blossoming romances while arranging the marriage of Vandergelder's niece, Ermengarde, and her artist boyfriend, Ambrose, played by Kelly Schnaible and Michael Kaskie.
The show is accompanied by a live orchestra, conducted by Kevin Murphy.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 2:00. There is also a Saturday matinee on November 17.
Tickets are $25 and $28 and are available online at www.wnmtc.com or can be purchased by phone at 775-445-4249. There is no service charge for online or telephone sales.
