Western Nevada College students can participate in adventure and exploration leading up to Welcome Back Days on the Carson City and Fallon campuses in September. All students are invited to the barbeques, and all will receive welcome gifts.
Carson City campus students are also invited to join in “A New Adventure,” a self-paced scavenger hunt to find Willy Wildcat, WNC’s mascot. The hunt begins Tuesday, Sept. 3, and continues through Tuesday, Sept. 10. Students will head to the Dini Student Center to pick up their scavenger hunt clues, and the event ends with a complimentary barbecue and raffle on Tuesday, Sept. 10, in Rotary Plaza, provided by Lifted Café from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Fallon Campus Welcome Back Day is planned for Wednesday, Sept. 18. Students will be served pizza and gifts will be handed out.
Both Welcome Back celebrations are presented by the Associated Students of Western Nevada, the college’s student government group.
A prize raffle also is planned for students during the barbeques. Prizes include WNC T-shirts and fitness center memberships donated by WNC Student Life; WNC baseball and softball hats as well as T-shirts donated by the WNC Foundation; and $5 gift certificates to Lifted Café.
WNC students will be able to pick up scavenger hunt materials Sept. 3-10 on the first floor of the Joe Dini Student Center.
The scavenger hunt is open to all students. The first 100 students to pick up their kit will receive a free sports bottle. Included in the scavenger hunt packet will be a “passport” and a map to visit various spots around campus to pick up essential clues. Participating students must have their passports stamped at each designated location. The event is designed to help students become more familiar with the college, and enjoy getting involved on campus area to be eligible for complimentary gifts. The first 10 students who turn in completed passports will win a $25 bookstore gift card.
