'Party with the Stars' at WNC Observatory

Free Saturday Events Offer Lectures, Clinics

Free weekly ‘Star Parties’ take place at sunset on most Saturday evenings at the Jack C. Davis Observatory on the Western Nevada College Carson City campus. Guests are encouraged to peer through telescopes at the night sky and visit with observatory volunteers, who are happy to answer questions. Events are weather-permitting, and may be cancelled if the sky is not clear for viewing.

On some evenings, slide lectures are offered by Michael Thomas, on a wide variety of astronomy-related topics. Doors open at 6 p.m., and lectures begin at 6:30 p.m.

September 14: "Issac Newton"
Doors open at 6 p.m., lecture at 6:30 p.m.
Learn about the story of one of the greatest scientific minds in history.

September 28: "Leonardo da Vinci"
Slide show and lecture at 6:30 p.m.
