Series on Tap for Mason Valley Community
Rural farms and ranches are discovering that social media marketing is an effective way to reach new customers in their community and beyond, and Western Nevada College aims to help.
The Western Nevada College Specialty Crop Institute is offering a series of free workshops, “Social Media Marketing Strategies for Farms & Ranches." The workshops meet 12-2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month from October through March 2014 at the Jeanne Dini Cultural Arts Center, 120 N. California St. in Yerington. The first class is Tuesday, Oct. 8. Cost is free, and class size is limited to 15 participants.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and other social media sites can help farmers and ranchers build awareness and attract new customers. The workshops will cover a variety of topics, including determining which sites to use, managing content, engaging readers, measuring social media results and more. The small class sizes will allow time help participants set up and manage different social media sites.
The workshops are presented by the Abbi Agency, a Reno-based marketing and public relations firm with more than a decade of experience in social media marketing. The agency is actively involved with several agricultural marketing projects.
The WNC Specialty Crop Institute is an innovative program that teaches alternative farming methods for local growers. Funding for this project is provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
To register for the workshop, call Ann Louhela, 775-423-7565 Ext. 2260, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
