About 200 people shared an evening of dance and song, and raised money for WNC student scholarships at the Latino Student Club of Western Nevada College’s ‘Carson City Got Talent’ Show on November 16 at the Carson Nugget.
Students and community members participated in the sixth annual show, entertaining the crowd with their singing, dancing and musical talents.
“It was great and we appreciate all of the community donors that helped get the event together, as well as all of the work by the students,” said Jose Quiroga, a Latino Student Club adviser. “We look forward to next year and growing the event to make it a bigger part of our community.”
Quiroga said the show raised $400 for student scholarships.
Ten entertainers performed, and Molly Seals of Carson City won first place for her singing and guitar-playing talents.
In addition to the money raised through gate receipts, the Latino Student Club generated scholarship money from a prize raffle. The top prize was a 50 percent take of raffle ticket sales.
Local businesses such as Jimmy John’s and Subway contributed gift cards to the raffle.
